FLIRTING - Why it's important for language learners.

For me, as a language teacher, language learner and socialiser, flirting represents the epitome of human communication. It calls into play so many skills. Active listening, fast response, complex body language, tone of voice, and a whole host of other (learnable) socio-linguistic abilities. (So much so that I teach a lesson on it, based on this how-to article from about.com.)

I've recently been reading a bit about it (coquetear's the verb) in Spanish too. Just to make sure I'm ready for it in foreign climes too. (On a sidenote, the texts have been full of useful advice, mainly in imperative form (do this, don't do that) which is a fantastic way to get exposure to this kind of verb.)
